How to Become a Rotarian...in 10 Easy Steps!

How to Become a Rotarian:

  • If you want to be a part of an organization that supports local community causes, where you can see the benefits first-hand, then Rotary is the service club for you!
  • If you want to be part of an organization that supports international projects through our club, then you should consider Rotary.

  • If you think that giving back should be fun and rewarding, as well as to build lasting relationships with a diverse group of people, then you should consider Rotary.
  • To start, find a club whose weekly meetings are at a time and on a day of the week that fits your schedule. Visit that club a few times to get to know their charitable focus and members. Each club has a unique schedule of weekly guest speakers and each club tends to have its own atmosphere and vibe.
  • Once you find a club that you enjoy, fill out an application and submit it to the club president via email or hard copy.
  • New applications are first approved by the board at their monthly meeting, then the club members at large vote on acceptance of the new member.
  • New members are typically inducted into the club on the first available meeting after the club votes to accept their application for membership.
  • The club will assign a mentor to guide you through your first few months in Rotary.
  • Members pay quarterly dues of $100, $75 of which goes to the club and $25 of which goes to Rotary International. Your mentor can explain how the voluntary Rotary International portion of your dues works.
  • All that’s left is for you to have fun! Become involved in club activities and projects, join club committees, participate in the weekly meetings and, if you are interested, volunteer to serve in the club leadership.

Our newest members were inducted on February 3, 2017, apparently somewhere near the Grand Canyon (thanks to Photoshop!):

Dr. George Willey, Sunrise Club Presidente Rick Smith, and Dr. Blair Miller
