Our History

In 1999 the Round Rock Rotary - Noon Club was approached and encouraged to sponsor a Sunrise Club since the Round Rock population was large enough to support two clubs according to District 5870.  Four members of the noon club were approached and encouraged to take this new challenge of forming a new club. Starting from day one the Round Rock Rotary- Sunrise Club believed in “Service Above Self”. Leadership from the District Leadership and good local recruiting the RR Sunrise Club lead local service efforts: In 2002 the members built a ramp at the home of a Round Rock ISD students when it was brought to our attention by the RRISD director of nurses that the student due to an accident was unable to get his wheel chair in and out of his house. We helped clean up the landscape of our local Senior Living Center one spring. We adopted a brother club in Saltio Mexico and assisted them in getting an International Rotary Foundation Grant to further their local efforts to developing a community garden which feed the local community. Our Club did a site visit and hosted an exchange visit during the garden development. In 2008 it came to the Club’s attention that the local Round Rock Parks were not all inclusive for children with all abilities. The RR Sunrise Club members provided the leadership and fund rising efforts along with the City of Round Rock, the Round Rock Parks and Recreation Department and other community service clubs to see the completion of the Park for All Abilities in 2012. The Round Rock Rotary- Sunrise Club continues to this day to provide leadership to local service project.
