Round Rock’s Arbor Day celebration another huge success

By DAVE HAMBY
Special to the Leader

The Round Rock Sunrise Rotary Club sent a delegation down to Saltillo, Mexico this past weekend to lay plans for an international service project between them and the Rotary club there. Included in the delegation of Rotarians were Tino Hernandez, Eric Whitfield, Duane Cawthron, and club president Kris Whitfield. It’s hoped that they can get funding from Rotary International to improve conditions in one of the poor villages close to Saltillo.

This project would fit in well with Rotary’s philosophy that if you give a man a fish, he’ll be fed for a day; if you teach him how to fish, he’ll eat for the rest of his life. Rotary International is the largest service organization in the world with over 1.2 million members. Their motto is “Service above self.” If you would like more information about Rotary you can log onto www.rotary.org. If you’d like some more information about Round Rock’s Sunrise Club you should visit www.rotaryroundrock-sunrise.com , or just drop me a line. The Sunrise Club meets every Friday at 7 a.m. at the Round Rock Medical Center in their education classroom next to the cafeteria.
