Play For All Abilities
“A Playscape that All can Enjoy” is a project that Rotary Club of Round Rock-Sunrise concenptualized as a community project. Due to the scope of the park, we as a club approached the City of Round Rock. Since its conception, the project has grown in its size and partnerships. Although still in the conceptual stages, our club has been able to garner partnerships from the City of Round Rock and various local service clubs. We need more partnerships and cooperation and hope to raise enough money to realize our project that will benefit children of all abilities in the community.
The park will consist of:
1) Boundless Playscape that goes above and beyond the currrent accessbility standards.
2) Brushy Creek Village has several play buildings and street signs. The skills learned can be utilized in real world community settings.
3) Rock Band Pod includes several outdoor instruments such as drums, xylophones, and bells.
4) Sensory Fun Pod is a fun, learning pod with a low sitting wall made of several different materials, learning panels and an accessible sand play area.
5) Island Retreat is designed for children needing a quieter, calmer play experience. Play equipment is spaced further apart and the pod is more remotely located.
Our Goal?
To Build a Playscape and several play pods that children of all abilities and their parents can use.
Why?
Approximately one in ten people are mentally or physically disabled. We need to create a play environment that invites all children to interact, learn and most of all, Play!
Where?
Centrally loated in Rabb Park near A. W. Grimes and HWY 79 in Round Rock. The site is quiet and tucked away, is full of shade trees, and is bordered by Brushy Creek.
